i was once a wonder,
goddess to nurture and give

the moonless world i asunder,
how i thought i’d outlive

yet now as spring has passed,
i rest in this soulless valley

inching towards an end aghast,
i had not wish for this finale

oh, but child, do not whimper
for this was a meant-to-be

as i join my friends as cinders,
return i shall, return i guarantee

the stars will shatter and i soon sail,
save those tears for another tale
