Gray Umbrellas

Jace Richmond

Some days,

I’d love nothing more than to share my umbrella with you,

Together,

Huddling under it,

Letting our breath mingle with the frosty air,

On a cool morning,

Rain sweeping past your face,

With mist that costs the trees in fairy tale look,

The street made from pallet of gray,

Green,

And love,

Unfiltered emotions splash in the puddles we walk through,

Your blue eyes have never looked more vibrant,

Against the monochrome colours,

I don’t doubt you can see my soul,

As we walk without being followed by deadlines,

A long a street of small shops and old lights,

As our arms bump,

I turn to see you,

And I’m caught in an image of perfection,

I could add another definition of the word,

Just by stating your name,

I can almost grab hold of the joy from your smile,

On this bleak Tuesday evening,

I am just so glad to be under this umbrella with you
