Maiden of Moonlight
Teah LeBlanc
Inconstant sickle hanging high
Mirrored maid dim as mist under sunlight
Roused by rise of stars glistening nigh
Waxing and waning by day, by night
Shining ever so faint through vigil golden
Lost to reveries of fair flight
Pale as moon yet not so olden
Veins traced skin, marbling upon jade
For alas to ailment she was beholden
Voice soft as moonlight, somber as shade
Singing lullabies from youth lorn
Drained by illness, in dreams repaid
Maid under beloved lucent light born
Waned as orb, lost luster of life
Neath eyes, shadowed perilune did adorn
Slipped away, lips arrayed in crescent pale
Beholding beloved moon neath night’s veil
Teah LeBlanc commenced writing poetry in middle school and though she has taken breaks from the medium throughout the years, poetry has always called her name until she returned. Her main influences in poetry include Christina Rosetti and J.R.R. Tolkien, to whom she ascribes her love of anachronistic verbiage. In addition to poetry, Teah enjoys prose, traveling, historical dress, art appreciation, art history, mythology, folklore, skincare, and hiking.
