No Sign of Life
Robyn Lam
California, United States
Swirls of brown crossed the sky,
The scorching heat burned everything,
Cracks spread across the ground,
No sign of life
Throat parched,
Eyes burning,
Head pounding,
Feet stumbling
The searing pain across my back,
Burning my hair and clothes,
Water dripped down my body;
My throat finally screaming of joy
Everything shriveling in the inferno,
It’s hard to see,
It’s hard to live,
It all wails in desperation
Swirls of brown crossed the sky,
The scorching heat burned everything,
Cracks spread across the ground,
No other sign of life
