The Dry season: A tale of
Resilience and Renewal
Arnav Ghai
India
In the land of golden sunsets,
Where earth met sky in shining sets,
A village stood with bated breath,
For rain and life to stave off death.
The monsoon was their only hope,
To grow their crops and daily scope,
Of water to quench their thirst,
And keep the heat from getting worse.
But one year, something changed in fate,
The rains didn't come, it was too late,
The fields were dry, the wells were low,
The village faced a heavy blow.
The people worried, fear took hold,
Their future seemed so dark and cold,
How could they live without the rain?
Their hopes and dreams all down the drain.
But as the days stretched into weeks,
The people found the strength to seek,
New ways to live and overcome,
The challenges they now succumb.
They banded together, strong and true,
And found a way to make it through,
With hard work and a will to thrive,
They found new ways to stay alive.
They dug deep wells, and harvested,
The rain that fell when they were blessed,
And though the earth was parched and dry,
The people never ceased to try.
They found new ways to farm and grow,
And shared their knowledge, to help others know,
That even in the driest times,
There's always hope, and endless signs,
Of life and beauty all around,
Just waiting to be sought and found,
And when the rains did come again,
The village was stronger for its pain.
For in the dry season's trial,
They found new strength, and learned to smile,
And though the land was still in need,
They knew that they could always seed,
A better world for all to see,
A world where hope and love run free,
And even in the driest years,
The people knew that love conquers fears.
